Apple M4 Max

16C/16T · 4.5 GHz

The M4 Max is the top chip of Apple's M4 generation, announced in October 2024 for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro and later used in the Mac Studio. Built on TSMC's second-generation 3 nm process, it offers up to 12 performance cores and a 40-core GPU with 546 GB/s of memory bandwidth, and brings Thunderbolt 5 to the Mac. A binned version has 14 CPU cores (10 performance and 4 efficiency), a 32-core GPU and 410 GB/s of bandwidth.

Notes
macOS 15 (Sequoia) and later. Windows runs only inside a virtual machine such as Parallels. Asahi Linux does not support the M3 generation or later, so no mainstream Linux distribution runs natively; ChromeOS is not supported. Apple does not publish base clocks or TDP figures.
