Apple M5 Max

18C/18T

The M5 Max is the high-end chip of Apple's M5 generation, announced in March 2026 for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro and added to the Mac Studio in September 2026. It shares the M5 Pro's two-die Fusion Architecture and 18-core CPU, but doubles the GPU to 40 cores and the memory bandwidth to 614 GB/s, with up to 128 GB of unified memory. A version with a 32-core GPU and 460 GB/s of bandwidth is also offered. Two M5 Max chips joined by UltraFusion form the M5 Ultra.

Notes
macOS 26 (Tahoe) and later. Windows runs only inside a virtual machine such as Parallels. Asahi Linux does not support the M3 generation or later, so no mainstream Linux distribution runs natively; ChromeOS is not supported. Apple does not publish clock speeds or TDP figures.
