Intel Core 2 Duo L7700

2C/2T · 17 W

The Intel Core 2 Duo L7700 is a low-voltage dual-core notebook processor built on Intel's 65 nm Merom design and introduced in September 2007 as the fastest member of the mobile L7 series. Its two cores run at 1.80 GHz and share 4 MB of L2 cache across an 800 MT/s front-side bus, all within a 17 W thermal envelope aimed at thin-and-light business notebooks. It ships as a 479-ball micro-FCBGA package soldered to the mainboard, so it cannot be replaced, and it has no integrated graphics: display output comes from the chipset. Compared with the preceding Core Duo generation it adds SSSE3 and Intel 64, allowing 64-bit operating systems at the same low power target.

Notes
Windows 11 is not supported: version 24H2 and later require the POPCNT and SSE4.2 instructions, which Merom (SSSE3) does not provide, and the Santa Rosa platform has no TPM 2.0. Windows 10 (64-bit) is the newest Windows release that will install. Current 64-bit Linux distributions still run on this processor.
