Intel Core 2 Duo L7500

2C/2T · 17 W

The Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 is a low-voltage dual-core notebook processor from Intel's 65 nm Merom generation, launched in May 2007 for the Santa Rosa mobile platform. It pairs two 1.60 GHz cores with 4 MB of shared L2 cache on an 800 MT/s front-side bus inside a 17 W thermal envelope, a common choice for 12- and 14-inch business ultraportables of the era. The processor comes in a 479-ball micro-FCBGA package soldered to the mainboard and has no integrated graphics, relying on the chipset for display output. It supports SSSE3 and Intel 64, so unlike the earlier Core Duo it can run 64-bit operating systems.

Notes
Windows 11 is not supported: version 24H2 and later require the POPCNT and SSE4.2 instructions, which Merom (SSSE3) does not provide, and the Santa Rosa platform has no TPM 2.0. Windows 10 (64-bit) is the newest Windows release that will install. Current 64-bit Linux distributions still run on this processor.
