Intel Core 2 Duo E6400

2C/2T · 65 W

The Core 2 Duo E6400 was part of Intel's launch lineup for the Core microarchitecture, released on July 27, 2006. It runs at 2.13 GHz on a 1066 MHz front-side bus with 2 MB of shared L2 cache in a 65 W TDP and supports Intel VT-x. Early B2-stepping chips are Conroe dies with half of their 4 MB cache disabled, while later L2-stepping chips use the smaller native 2 MB die. It was succeeded by the E6420 with the full 4 MB cache in April 2007.

Notes
Windows 11 is out of reach: the chip is far below the 8th-generation floor on Microsoft's supported-processor list and its platforms offer no TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot. Windows 10 and the mainstream Linux distributions still install, because they are built for the x86-64 baseline, but the CPU has no SSE4.2 or POPCNT, so any software that requires x86-64-v2 or newer will not run. ChromeOS Flex does not cover hardware of this era.
