AMD Xbox Series S GPU

128-bit · 1,280 cores

The Xbox Series S GPU is the graphics half of the semi-custom AMD processor in Microsoft's smaller, disc-less ninth-generation console, released in November 2020. It carries the same RDNA 2 feature set as the Series X, including hardware ray tracing, variable rate shading and mesh shaders, but with 20 compute units instead of 52 it is sized for 1440p output upscaled to 4K rather than native 4K rendering. The console pairs it with 10 GB of GDDR6 split into an 8 GB fast pool at 224 GB/s and a 2 GB slower pool reserved largely for the system.

Notes
RDNA 2 has no dedicated matrix or AI accelerator. Packed FP16 runs at twice the FP32 rate, and the compute units provide INT8 and INT4 dot-product instructions that Microsoft exposes for machine-learning workloads. There is no BF16, TF32 or FP8 support.
