Apple A8X GPU (PowerVR GXA6850)

2 GB LPDDR3-1600 · 128-bit · 256 cores

The A8X GPU is an eight-cluster PowerVR GXA6850, a semi-custom Apple design based on PowerVR Series6XT and used only in the A8X chip of the iPad Air 2, released in October 2014. Apple's customization doubled the cluster count of the A8's GPU, giving the A8X 2.5 times the graphics performance of the A7. It shares 2 GB of LPDDR3 memory with the CPU over a dual-channel interface providing 25.6 GB/s. The iPad Air 2 is supported up to iPadOS 15.
