Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000

2C/2T · 44 W

The Core 2 Extreme X9000 was the first 45 nm Penryn Extreme Edition for notebooks, launched in January 2008. It is a dual-core chip running at 2.80 GHz with 6 MB of shared L2 cache on an 800 MHz front-side bus, and its unlocked multiplier let enthusiast gaming laptops such as the Dell XPS M1730 overclock it. It fits Socket P systems within a 44 W thermal envelope and was succeeded by the 3.06 GHz Core 2 Extreme X9100.

Notes
Windows 11 is out of reach: Penryn is far below the 8th-generation floor on Microsoft's supported-processor list and the platform offers no TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot. Windows 10 and the mainstream Linux distributions still install, because they are built for the x86-64 baseline, but the CPU has no SSE4.2 or POPCNT, so any software that requires x86-64-v2 or newer will not run. ChromeOS Flex does not cover hardware of this era.
