Intel Core U2500

2C/2T · 9 W

The Intel Core Duo U2500 is an ultra-low-voltage mobile processor from Intel's first-generation Core Duo (Yonah) family, aimed at thin-and-light notebooks where battery life mattered more than raw speed. It has two cores running at 1.20 GHz sharing 2 MB of L2 cache over a 533 MHz front-side bus, built on Intel's 65 nm process within a 9 W thermal envelope. Unlike the standard-voltage Core Duo models, the U2500 uses a soldered BGA479 package rather than a socketed one, and like the rest of the Yonah generation it does not support Intel 64-bit extensions. It has no integrated graphics and relies on the notebook's chipset for video output.

Notes
32-bit only: Yonah does not implement Intel 64, so no 64-bit OS can run. Windows 11 requires a 64-bit CPU and cannot be installed. The chip clears the PAE/NX/SSE2 floor for 32-bit Windows 10 but never appeared on Microsoft's or Intel's supported-processor lists. Ubuntu (from 19.10), Fedora (from 31) and Arch (from 2017) no longer ship installable 32-bit x86 images; community builds such as Arch Linux 32 still run on it.
