The Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 is a flagship-class dual-core mobile processor launched in July 2008 with Intel's Centrino 2 platform, and for much of that year the fastest standard-voltage Core 2 Duo available in notebooks. Two cores run at 2.80 GHz with 6 MB of shared L2 cache on a 1066 MHz front-side bus, inside the usual 35 W thermal envelope. The combination of high clock, full cache and the faster bus made it the part to have in 2008 mobile workstations and desktop-replacement laptops. Enhanced Intel SpeedStep reduces the cores to 1.6 GHz and then 800 MHz when idle, and Deep Power Down shuts down the cache and cores entirely to save battery. Intel 64 and SSE4.1 are supported. Intel offered the chip in a 478-pin micro-FCPGA package for Socket P and as a soldered 479-ball micro-FCBGA version for Mobile Intel 4 Series Express designs.
