Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300

4C/4T · 45 W

The Core 2 Extreme QX9300 and the Core 2 Quad Q9100 were Intel's first quad-core notebook processors, released in August 2008. The QX9300 places two 45 nm Penryn dual-core dies in one Socket P package and runs at 2.53 GHz with 12 MB of L2 cache on a 1066 MHz front-side bus. It requires a GM45, PM45 or GS45 chipset and, at 45 W, more power and cooling than other Penryn notebook chips.

Notes
Windows 11 is out of reach: the chip is far below the 8th-generation floor on Microsoft's supported-processor list and its platforms offer no TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot. Windows 10 and the mainstream Linux distributions still install, because they are built for the x86-64 baseline, but the CPU has no SSE4.2 or POPCNT, so any software that requires x86-64-v2 or newer will not run. ChromeOS Flex does not cover hardware of this era.
