The Intel Core i7-4770S is a quad-core desktop processor from the 4th Generation Intel Core family, a Haswell part built on Intel 22 nm process and launched in the second quarter of 2013. Four cores with Hyper-Threading provide eight threads at 3.10 GHz base and up to 3.90 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0, backed by 1 MB of L2 and 8 MB of Intel Smart Cache. As the power-efficient S variant of the i7-4770, it trades a lower 65 W thermal envelope for the same peak clock speed, making it a common choice for compact and energy-conscious desktops. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 scales up to 1.20 GHz, so a discrete graphics card is optional. The chip uses socket FCLGA1150 on 8-series and 9-series boards, drives two channels of DDR3-1333/1600 or DDR3L-1333/1600 for up to 32 GB without ECC, and supplies 16 lanes of PCI Express 3.0. Supported instruction extensions include SSE4.1, SSE4.2 and AVX2.
