AMD Embedded R-Series RX-421BD

4C/4T · 3.4 GHz · 12 W

Flagship of AMD's Merlin Falcon Embedded R-Series, announced in October 2015 as the embedded version of the Carrizo APU and the first AMD platform to support DDR4 memory. Two Excavator modules with four cores and Radeon R7 graphics with eight GCN compute units at up to 800 MHz, rated at 819 GFLOPS, run within a TDP configurable from 12 to 35 W. It supports HEVC 4K decode, up to three 4K DisplayPort 1.2 displays, HSA 1.0, the AMD Secure Processor and ten years of supply longevity.

Notes
AMD lists Windows 7, Windows Embedded 7 and 8 Standard, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 for the Embedded R-Series, along with its open-source Linux driver and Mentor Embedded Linux. The Excavator-based processor is not on Microsoft's Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2 supported-processor lists, and Windows 11 26H2 keeps the same hardware requirements. Mainline Linux supports the platform, so mainstream distributions such as Ubuntu, Fedora and Arch run on it.
