The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 (MT6983) is MediaTek's first Armv9 flagship smartphone SoC and the first mobile chip built on TSMC's N4 4 nm-class process. Its octa-core CPU combines one Cortex-X2 ultra core at up to 3.05 GHz, three Cortex-A710 performance cores at up to 2.85 GHz and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores, served by 8 MB of L3 cache and a 6 MB system-level cache. Graphics come from the first smartphone implementation of Arm's ten-core Mali-G710 MC10, while the fifth-generation NPU 590 AI engine delivers roughly four times the power efficiency of the previous generation. The memory controller drives LPDDR5X at 7500 Mbps, and the imaging subsystem adds simultaneous triple-camera 18-bit HDR video capture and support for sensors up to 320 MP. An integrated 5G modem reaching 7 Gbps downlink, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 complete the platform. MediaTek announced the chip in November 2021 and confirmed adoption by OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and Honor that December, with the first handsets reaching market in the first quarter of 2022. A tablet variant is sold as MT8798.
