It runs at 2.8 GHz base and up to 3.9 GHz turbo with 22 MB of L3 cache in a 150 W TDP, with three UPI links, DDR4-2933 memory, Intel Optane persistent memory and DL Boost (VNNI). A higher-clocked 20-core 6242R followed in the 2020 refresh.

Microsoft lists the 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable family in the supported-processor lists for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 and for Windows 10 22H2; Microsoft has not published a separate 26H2 list, and the 25H2 entries still apply. Windows 11 additionally requires TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot on the platform. Server deployments normally run Windows Server or an enterprise Linux distribution.
