The Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 is the fastest standard-voltage dual-core mobile processor Intel built on the 45 nm Penryn design, released in April 2009 at the very end of the Core 2 generation. Two cores run at 3.06 GHz with 6 MB of shared L2 cache on a 1066 MHz front-side bus, and Intel held the part inside the same 35 W thermal envelope as the rest of the T9000 series, which is the achievement here: a 3 GHz notebook chip in a mainstream power class. Enhanced Intel SpeedStep steps the cores down to 1.6 GHz and then 800 MHz under light load, and Deep Power Down shuts down the cores and cache at idle. Intel 64 and SSE4.1 are supported. It shipped in a 478-pin micro-FCPGA package for Socket P and as a soldered 479-ball micro-FCBGA version, and remains the natural end-of-life upgrade for Socket P notebooks.
