The Intel Core 2 Duo T6670 is a late refresh of Intel's entry-level 45 nm Penryn mobile line, released in the third quarter of 2009 towards the end of the Core 2 era. It keeps the 2.20 GHz clock, 2 MB of shared L2 cache, 800 MHz front-side bus and 35 W thermal envelope of the T6600 it replaced, arriving as a later stepping of the same entry-level Penryn-3M design, so performance in everyday work is indistinguishable from its predecessor. Its role was simply to keep a current part on Intel's price list for budget notebooks while attention moved to the first Core i series. Enhanced Intel SpeedStep, Intel 64 and SSE4.1 are all present. As with every Core 2 part the memory controller lives in the chipset, so capacity and type are set by the notebook, typically dual-channel DDR2 or DDR3 on a Mobile Intel 4 Series board.
