Intel Core 2 Duo P9700

2C/2T · 28 W

The Intel Core 2 Duo P9700 is a dual-core notebook processor from Intel's 45 nm "Penryn" generation, launched in mid-2009 as the fastest Socket P part of the 6 MB L2 P9000 series. Its 2.8 GHz clock is paid for with a 28 W envelope, 3 W above the rest of the P series, and it served as the top mainstream option in late Centrino 2 laptops.

Notes
Not supported by Windows 11: version 24H2 and later require the POPCNT and SSE4.2 instructions, which Penryn (SSE4.1) does not have. Windows 10 runs, as do Ubuntu, Fedora and Arch Linux, which still target the baseline x86-64 (v1) ISA. Not a supported ChromeOS Flex platform.
