Intel Core i7-4790K

4C/8T · 4.4 GHz · 88 W

The Core i7-4790K was the flagship of Intel's Devil's Canyon refresh, a mid-life update to the 4th generation Haswell desktop line that raised clock speeds and improved thermals with a better thermal interface material and extra on-package decoupling capacitors. It was the first Intel desktop processor to ship with a 4.0 GHz base clock, and its four cores with Hyper-Threading kept it a popular gaming chip for years after launch.

Notes
Microsoft's supported processor lists for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 start at 8th Gen Intel Core, so this 4th Gen part is not supported; Windows 10 is. Microsoft has not published a separate processor list for Windows 11 26H2, so the 25H2 status is carried over. Mainstream Linux distributions and ChromeOS Flex are supported.
