The EPYC 7281 is a 16-core model of AMD's first-generation EPYC 7001 server processors, launched on June 20, 2017 for one- and two-socket servers on the SP3 platform. It carries half the L3 cache of the other 16-core Naples models, which made it the lowest-priced way to get 16 Zen cores, eight memory channels and 128 PCIe lanes per socket.
